I have owned this chain saw for about 6 months. I used it occaionally around the yard cutting fallen branches etc. I recently cut a larger oak limb that had fallen and while doing so it started making a dull grinding noise and slipping. After awhile the chain would not turn at all. I opened it up to see what was wrong and discovered all the teeth had been sheared off of a large ring gear. A smaller metal gear rotates in around this ring gear and this ring gear was made of plastic #*%!*@. I had thought maybe a clutch went bad, but after examining the mechanics there appeared to be no clutch. It seems that if you work it hard (relative term here) the gears teeth strip off rendering the chain saw useless.I found the ring gear online for a bit over $6 US and ordered a few(3 of them) 34118154G. The part # for the 16″ appears to be the same as the 14″, So I guess Homelite just uses a bigger bar. I hope this is all that went bad.In summary, Do not use this for cutting oak firewood or

After wasting my money on generic replacements I bought an Oregon replacement. My Echo saw is again cutting very well.

good product. as advertised, delivered quickly. only problem? not the right size, which is my fault/error
my advice? check your serial/model numbers and make sure it is the right one.

Like the other reviewer I also had a 18″ chainsaw which this 18″ chain did not fit, even tho my chainsaw was listed.

I ordered the s56, it arrive quick with amazon frre two day. The listing indictaes s56 fits craftsman 16 inch , my saw. beter pricing than sears..Imagine that? any way when it came I removed worn chain and could see that s56 was way to big, so I re-inserted chain and in box, called oregon techincal servcie. USA based, knowledgable English as first lanagauge..how novel and nice! Gal asked what saw I had and said you need s55, call amazon customer servcie get rma and tell them to fix up listing guide. I called amazon, they sent link to rma and shipped s56, gave me amazon prime so I could my s55 in one day free shipping; And it came very next day! S55 fit cratsman 16 inch perfectly! and cuts through wood like budda. got a 2 pack for lesss than sears replacemnt, too. PLus a 5 gift card on next order for inconvience, Thanks amazon. I buy a lot of stuff from amazon, dvds, books, now replacemtn tool parts , and I used gift to get a ddewalt recipracating “sawsall” .I got 120 volt model as I need power tools. Not battery powered almost power tools. The sawsall came in one day too as I had use of amzon prime for 4 weeks too. this ends soon So all in all oregon makes great chainsaw tools, and amazon is a great company to do business with! I will be back. I also have sold my older books and kids last semester textbooks as well. The kids buy next semeste textbooks if the professors dont pull a switcher-roo, or mcraw hill doesnt go new edition (usually two pages, but you want the latest and then you pay Mcraw hill new bookstore outrageous pricing. and then its worth 1/2/ to 1/3 1 second later. The college kids are getting a raw deal on text books but amazon it an outlet that helps provide a forum to exchange texts to those whom can use them! I Love AMAZON…but you can always check manufacturer for sizing right before you order for detailed parts and maybe skip the rma cycle;even though amazon goes out of their way to make it right, every single time! Beats sears prices, Targets arrogance evey time! MHP

Bought this chain through Amazon.com, and got great fast service.
This is probably the most popular chain available for electric chain saws. It says it is ‘anti-kickback’, probably a result of putting fewer teeth on it than the Remington chain, which is no longer available. Don’t leave it out in the rain.

I wasn’t able to find a chain for my old McCulloch chain saw at local retailers so I was happy to find these Oregon chains on Amazon. Oregon provides a good web site for finding the correct chain for your saw. It’s also nice to find something made in the United States. I’m tired of the poor quality Chinese crap that you find everwhere. The chain fits perfectly and turned out to cut very agressively. This is the fastest cutting blade that I’ve ever had on the saw which I’ve owned for over 20 years.

I am well aware what reconditioned means, but I was disappointed to find that it also means that the box will not contain all the items that come with an actual new retail purchase. If you combine the value of the missing items with the discount for purchasing a used and possibly blemished product, the cheaper price sometimes may not be such a good deal after all. In addition, my saw didnt make it thru more than a few cuts and the chain started jumping off the bar. I discovered the reason I could not get the chain to tighten up was because the threaded rod portion of the tightener had a section of stripped threads. If this was the reason the original buyer returned it, then the whole reconditioning process failed to fix anything. I returned it, I was very disappointed.

Will i got one and it work just fine for what is,When buying this you have to keep in mind it’s not a gas chain saw. If you do that then it will work just fine

My husband was very pleased with the condition of the saw I bought for him. We were a little afraid to buy reconditioned products, but this one has been good. We would have returned it if it wasn’t in good condition.

This is the third set of chain and bar combo I’ve used with my Echo chain saw. The Oregon is head and shoulders superior to the others! The chain is sturdy and sharp, cutting faster than others I’ve used. Recommend without reservation!
