I have owned this chain saw for about 6 months. I used it occaionally around the yard cutting fallen branches etc. I recently cut a larger oak limb that had fallen and while doing so it started making a dull grinding noise and slipping. After awhile the chain would not turn at all. I opened it up to see what was wrong and discovered all the teeth had been sheared off of a large ring gear. A smaller metal gear rotates in around this ring gear and this ring gear was made of plastic #*%!*@. I had thought maybe a clutch went bad, but after examining the mechanics there appeared to be no clutch. It seems that if you work it hard (relative term here) the gears teeth strip off rendering the chain saw useless.I found the ring gear online for a bit over $6 US and ordered a few(3 of them) 34118154G. The part # for the 16″ appears to be the same as the 14″, So I guess Homelite just uses a bigger bar. I hope this is all that went bad.In summary, Do not use this for cutting oak firewood or

Why does my Husky rancher chainsaw cut so bad?
I have an echo (small cs3000) that really out does the Husky. Echo Chainsaw Clutch both saws are sharp. I have to bare down hard for the Husky to cut, not so with the echo. Does anyone know how a saw runs that needs a NEW clutch? Where and how hard is it to change? Thanks for the help, Bob

I bought a new cub cadet chain saw so I thought I would get an extra chain. Amazon was pushing this one. Well when it came the box was different than the one shown, but the number was the same. When I went to put it on the chain was an inch too long. So I went to the local hardware store and looked at the oregon box….CUB CADET IS NOT EVEN LISTED ON THE BOX. The picture they show is either old or photo shopped. As i took so long to need it i am stuck with it. Thanks Amazon!

how do i free a locked up chainsaw engine?
i have a Stihl 009 model chainsaw that’s locked up. i can turn the blade so its not the centrifugal clutch. are there Stihl Chainsaw Clutch Removal any ways to free up the piston because that’s what I’m assuming what it is. iv heard of putting vinegar oil and degreaser in the cylinder to break it free but they deem a little far fetch please help. thank youi already have thats not the problem the cylinder is locked upits for sure rust in the top end

Finally, and it works. After two false starts — an electronic chipper and an electronic shredder — I finally received the chipper and shredder in one machine. It does the job! At last a product that meets my desire to shred the leaves and small branches that I am ready to mulch from my 6th story balcony garden.

McCulloch Eager Beaver Chainsaw chain/bar replacement?
I have an old little eager beaver chainsaw, little thing, needs McCulloch Chainsaw Clutch 610 a new bar. Anyone know how the remove the clutch cover? Looks to me like I need to remove the chain lock handle but I cannot even figure that out. I can repair any of the other 5 chainsaws I own but this little bastard is confusing me
