ryobi 18 in 40 cc chainsaw idle problem?
Hi,I bought a ryboi about 6 months ago(no jokes..newbie here) I used it for like a month and noticed that the chain was moving during idle. And I noticed that the saw was cutting out on me after I release the trigger.(didn’t go into idle mode) Even worse is the saw now seemed to cut out after a few cuts.I called and got a generic answer from ryobi’s tech support. So I played with the idle Ryobi Chainsaw screw. I got it to the point where the idle is going slow enough that the chain isn’t moving during idle. Now the saw doesn’t want to go properly into high idle. It cuts out quickly.A friend said I need to adjust the screw and then put the saw into high idle in order for the saw to adjust itself to this new setting???could it be a matter of turning the idle screw clockwise like a half turn..or do you believe the saw is toast after one months use.is the idle screw really that sensative? Also I noticed the saw seems to be leaking a drop or two of fluid..assumeing it is it’s fuel/2cyc mixture when I set the saw down.Do you think I messed up the saw when I removed it’s covering and gave the chainblade a good wipeing down with a clean cloth..removed any woodpulp/oil residue etc.thanks..once again totally newbie here..any advice would be welcomes

The saw works well. It cuts modersate size branches. The vibration is not bad,nor is ita heavypiece of equipment. If you want something for light pruning without a wire this might just be the thing for yo. Note it does not come with chain oil which you will need to get beofre you use it.
Is it necessary to have a certain file guide for a chainsaw chain?
I bought a file (13/64ths) for my Stihl chainsaw Chainsaw and now I need the guide. Stihl sells their kit for $20 but Lowes sells kits for $8. If I have the right size file, is there any guide that is somewhat universal, or do I have to pay for the Stihl brand guide and kit?

Ok, so I just bought this chainsaw to take care of a pretty massive limb that fell in my yard. I read the instructions, mixed the oil with the gas, and readied myself for the lengthy launch sequence. Everything seemed to be going well, the launch sequenced appeared to work and the saw started, for 10 seconds. Then it stopped and it will not re-start. I waited an hour, went through the launch sequence again and nothing. Failed to start. I’ll try again in another hour, if it’s not raining. But for now a big fat 1 star. I’d give it 0 stars if I could.
I got this old chainsaw from a yard sale and need info on what the knob that says off-on and turns?
a long ways open and closed…it’s a valve type knob connected to the gas line. Is this the gas Chainsaw Older Model on switch or a air/fuel mixture knob? It’s an old Sears model 917.351370. I’ve researched it enough to find out it was made by AYP for Sears…some still believe it to be Roper built. It was an old self-sharpening type that has had a regular type chain put on I had it running and I’m rebuilding the carb, but if this is fuel mixture than I need a reference point or starting point. Anyone?

We used to own a landscaping business and bought all this stuff through middle dealers. Our old Shindaiwa was excellent and when is broke down and was going to be too much to fix we started shopping for a new one. This new powertool end is fabulous, very light and very powerful. It fits all our old tool ends, and works great. We are extremely pleased and saved over $100.00 by buying it on Amazon!!
my new shindaiwa weedeater say it requires to Shindaiwa 575 Chainsaw idle for 2 mins when it’s cold and 2 mins before i turn it off?

Has excellent power and torque. Much quieter than two-cycle versions, however it does vibrate more than the two-cycle, and is harder to start. It is a bit heavier.
Buying a Backpack leafblower?
Ok im looking for a backpack leafblower. I have had a handheld echo blower for three years, but know have recently moved to a place with a ton of trees, which means alot of leaves, and the handheld Shindaiwa 550 Chainsaw is ok, but would like some more power, and it also gets tiring. Ive been impressed with echo, but ive seen other brands too and heard from different people saying others are better than some. So im looking at either, Shindaiwa, Kawasaki, Echo, or Stilth. I see alot of yard care places using the stilth, is this because they are good, or just good price. Which one would be the best choice for moving lots of leaves, has lots of power THANKS
