This is the 3rd Oregon chain over the last year I’ve bought for my 20+ year old Homelite Super XL 20″ saw. Cuts like butter when new but I purchased a few to have a sharp one working while getting 2 or 3 professionally sharpened.

What impact did McCulloch v Maryland have on society?
Also, what was the effect of the decision of the court in this case?

    Amazon quick turn around to exchange 12″ instead 12/14 (wrong size) in next business day.
    I decided to buy 3 more garden products from Amazon (better price than HD/Sears/Lowe’s plus free shipping). There is no problem at all.

    I wasn’t able to find a chain for my old McCulloch chain saw at local retailers so I was happy to find these Oregon chains on Amazon. Oregon provides a good web site for finding the correct chain for your saw. It’s also nice to find something made in the United States. I’m tired of the poor quality Chinese crap that you find everwhere. The chain fits perfectly and turned out to cut very agressively. This is the fastest cutting blade that I’ve ever had on the saw which I’ve owned for over 20 years.

    Great saw–works perfectly–but when it is stored–the oil leaks from the reservoir on to the blades, which are not running, and on to the floor of the garage–

    a real mess

    Worked ok out of the box on small brush but the blade quickly dulls and then its basically useless. Sharpening the blades is inconvenient and time consuming. Might be fine if all you want to do is mulch leaves. I bought this as an alternative to renting a bigger unit for a day but given how difficult and slow this machine is spending the money on a rental probably makes more sense.

    As others have said, the assemby instructions are quite poor– unhelpful pictures and undescriptive directions. I ended up skipping a step because the picture clearly showed that what I was supposed to do was already completed. As for use, don’t think that you’re going to have a pile of yard debris and just shred or mulch it. During the first 2 hours, I must have disassembled the shoot, unjammed the cutters, reassembled the shoot, and popped the fuse (yes, it really does take all the to restart it) at least 20 times. Considering it takes about 90 seconds for the above steps, I didn’t get a lot completed. Once I disgruntledly accepted that all the debris had to be virtually straight and dry (fresh shrubery clipping didn’t do so well), things went well– I even had a 15 minute stretch of no jams. This may be the best electric chipper on the market and maybe ~$100 is not a bad price for it, but I expected that it would simply “work” much better than it did– it simply didn’t live up to my expectations (especially for a McCullough made product), but maybe my expectations were too high.

    The order arrived quickly. It was fairly easy to assemble. It worked first time. And I’ve been using it ever since. It doesn’t do soft fibrous things like the long thin leaves from the naturalizing lilies. It works great on leaves and twigs. It does produce good mulch. and… it reduces the volume of my green waste a lot! It’s a good product. (p&b)

    Received promptly & doing it’s job as expected. It’s another new toy for my husband.
    We tried to rent one but they only had commercial units for rent (ones you pull behind a car). It is for smaller items but that is exactly what we needed it for.

    I have used a Remington chainsaw for many years.I use an electric chainsaw for small branches and kindling wood. They work just fine, and, are less expensive to use than my two gas powered saws.I have a fireplace with insert to heat the log home during cold days. Nothing like wood heat. I got ten years of use from the previous chainsaw.

    This is the second electric McCilloch 16″ chain saw that I have owned and it is even better and more powerful than the first. I still use a gas chain saw out in the woods on my property but I usually do just enough cutting with it to get the logs on a trailer so I can take them bach to my shed to cut them up and save the sawdust for on my garden and flower beds as mulch. This electric is lighter and more powerful than my gas saw and makes short work of even 14″ well-seasoned oak and poppel logs with a minimum of effort. I highly recommend this sae for anyone who has an electric outlet close enough to their cutting station.     The McCulloch3516F chainsaw puts an end to my problem of gas engines that don’t start when I really need them to. I have been cutting out maple branches this summer from trees with verticillium wilt – branches up to 8 inches are no problem at all.

    This saw has an impressive safety feature: a chain brake that stops the saw instantly as soon as the trigger is released or the safety guard is pushed forward. I mean instantly: there is a loud clunk as the brake engages and the chain stops dead. This takes some getting used to, as the brake engages if you wiggle your finger while running the chainsaw, causing the chain to start and stop. There is no concept of “revving” the chain. It also means there is no “idle” speed for the chain. It is on or off. And that is safe.

    You can also consider it a safety feature that the chain has fewer cutting teeth than my gas powered saw chains. I don’t know the relative operating RPMs – if they are about the same, this saw seems to cut a little slower, and fewer teeth would do that. This makes the saw less aggressive and less likely to pull out of your control. I like that. As I say, the cutting ability is well in excess of the 8″ branches I’ve been dealing with.

    The oil fill is conveniently located so that you don’t have to tip the saw to fill it, although a small funnel is helpful.

    Overall, I am very happy with this chainsaw.

    I was surprised after using this chainsaw. It started smoking after using it for 10 minutes to cut 3 inch branches. The motor caught fire. I will fix the switch on my 35yr old Craftsman. Seller did return my money and paid for shipping. It could have been just one bad one in the bunch.

    Easy to use and maintain. Can be easily taken apart for cleaning and adjustment without tools. It comes with “low kickback” chain, and I suspect it hinders performance a little. Chain cuts slower than I would have hoped. I have been looking for better chain, but McCulloch website is pretty useless for finding any parts or accessories.

    Ordered this last month. Has as much power as my 18in gas saw.
    Easiest chain adjustment I ever saw. Thanks, McCulloch for a wonderful saw.

    Works as advertised. Be sure to buy some chain lube and load reservoir before use. Plenty of power to cut medium size branches and logs.

    As stated in title – this seems to be a nice inexpensive chainsaw, my reason for purchasing. Price from Amazon was less than I found elsewhere. Case was smaller than other brands for this size saw (desired); the other major comparable brand was an ugly slime green color. The saw starts easily, runs smoothly, etc. Anti-vibe handle is uncommon in this price range. My only caveat is the cheesy plastic choke linkage. When it breaks (and I suspect it will) it can be replaced easily with some coat-hanger wire.

    Just got this McCullough saw today. It is a replacement for a 2.0 cuin. Homelite I have had for 12 years. Observations:
    Packaging of saw is poorly done with it (the saw) being fully assembled and the bar sticking out (cardboard covered) to where it could be warped during shipment. Mine seemed ok but time will tell on bar wear.
    Plastic covers and things like the choke are really crude compared to my inexpensive old 16in Homelite that was plastic as well. The gas and oil fillers have small openings and are placed side by side which I also do not like. The caps and stays are just poor quality.
    After fueling and priming, saw seemed to start ok though it was hesitant to throttle up but being as it was 33F this might be the reason. Just did not run perfect during cutting some trees (oak about 10in thick) away from their stumps due to hesitation of pickup. Though with warmer weather this may improve.
    Bar is not very good quality and might need replacement with a good Oregon manufactured one.

    It is too bad that things just get poorly built these days. I had looked at comparable priced chain saws and they are worse than the McCullough in terms of quality. I would only recommend this saw to the hobbyist and not to anyone needing a production saw. I doubt it will last the 12 years my old Homelite did and the 30 years my bigger 24in Super XL Homelite is still going (not used as much the last few years). New Homelite chainsaws are not worth looking at. Oh well, I never had luck with Stihls in the past so not to many brands to choose from other than the real expensive saws.

    This chainsaw is light weight and very easy to handle. It is good for small jobs like cutting off branches and cutting down small trees. If you need a chainsaw to haul wood, I think a bigger one would be necessary.

    Quality chain! Really makes the chips fly, simple to sharpen with just a couple strokes.
