Oregon Bar Rail Free Relevant Info

I have used oregon chains and bars for years. They have always tended to be of average or better quality. I was quite supprised that Oregon would allow their name of such a poorly engineered and shoddy product. When the guide is set up exactly as per instructions, the chain guide will not allow the chain to pass through the clamps. Had I bought this thing locally, it would have gone back the next day. Rather than go through all the return hassels through Amazon, I just decided to chalk it up to experience and eat it. I have decided that it is better to just pay a little more and buy some things locally than to buy from Amazon, sigh unseen and end up with a useless peice of crap. Save your $40 and just buy a plain old round file and hand guide. You will do a better job of sharpening and save some money too.

After wasting my money on generic replacements I bought an Oregon replacement. My Echo saw is again cutting very well.

  2. comment  Johns Says:

This is a great product, for both utility and price. Wish I had the patent! Fits perfectly on a 20″ bar. Would do fine on up to 24″ bars. And, on smaller bars you can choose to trim to shorter length. Tough poly-plastic construction. Light weight! Compact. Easy, easy operation. Looks durable. Forget the old scabbards and bar cover sleeves.

what can i say… 35+ year old chain saw that is hard to find parts and tried this and walla great price and makes the old saw cut fast and straight again….buy it!

  4. comment  Howell Says:

everything works well, but it does not have a light so how can I read it when it is dark? I would recommend this for anyone that wants to know the temp in, out and the humidity!

  5. comment  Livermore Says:

It is working fine now but it was frustrating to set up. I had problems with the remote sensor and had to try three different batteries before the “low battery” icon went off and the indoor sensor would read the remote. The one time I tried to use the memory, the unit froze and I had to reset it by taking the batteries out and putting them back in.

However, I think that once you get it working and leave it alone, it works fine and provides a lot of useful information.

I love this item. The graphics are fabulous. When it is going to rain you see clouds and rain. It keeps accurate time.

We ordered one of these weather stations so we could have a general idea of the current and general weather outlook when staying at our condo in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (weather forecasts there in Spanish aren’t very helpful to us!). This unit does receive atomic clock signals from Boulder, Colorado, and the internal barometer is able to predict the likelihood of precipitation in the next 12-24 hours.

We have been very satisfied with this weather station, and ordered another for our home in the US, where we use the outdoor transmitter as well, and everything works as it should and is easy to understand.

And–what we didn’t know until very recently (by accident)–this thing even has an alarm clock you can set.

Very useful in our daily lives :)

After reading many reviews and based on my budget i ended up getting the Oregon Scientific BAR208HGA. Here are my thoughts on the device.

    PROS:

    - Feels sturdy.
    - Form factor is good.
    - Accurate readings comparing the outdoor sensor with the indoor sensor.
    - Backlight is bright and clear. ( orange color ).
    - Outdoor sensor measures both Temp & Humidity.
    - Outdoor sensor has external display.
    - 24 hour log.

    CONS:

    - Difficult to read unit from a few feet away. I feel i’m always tilting my head to be able to get a reading.
    - Must use a very small philips screwdriver to install batteries on the outdoor sensor.
    - No batteries included.
    - At least for me, for 3 weeks now i have not been able to get a signal to the Atomic Clock. Had to set it manually.
    - 24 hour log clears after 24 hours. No history.

Couple things that i can’t understand is regarding the forecast. Since i’m not getting the atomic clock reading, i’m not quite sure what forecast it’s giving me. The moon phases could be tracked down by the clock settings, but the forecast i’m not sure where that is coming from. So i can’t tell you if it’s accurate or not.

Not sure how long the outdoor sensor will last. It doesn’t seem all that weatherproof. But we’ll see with time.

I got the Silver version. The look is nice. The product overall is great. But if it weren’t for the CONS above, i’d give it 4 stars. But i just can’t.

For the price, i think it’s worth it. Like i mentioned before, i did alot of searching and reading before i decided on this one. From all the options out there, i think this is one of the better products out there.

Feel free to comment and ask me any questions you may have.

    -Rob

This is a wonderful product. Reception to the base was quick and constant. Numbers are easy to read and the backlight is perfect. I wish it could be hung on a wall, but that is only a minor thing. This is the best remote weather station I have ever owned.

  10. comment  Haun Says:

We are happy with the service and will be happy with the station as soon as we get it set right

  11. comment  Ludecke Says:

The station is great. We especially like the humidity readings along with indoor and outdoor temperatures. We have previous experience with Oregon Scientific products and have enjoyed having them. It is a very reliable company.

  12. comment  Iribe Says:

The clock has all the critical features I wanted…projection shows time, outdoor temp, and if alarm is set. Crescendo alarm, backlit, and atomic time feature, plus month, date, and day.

I was thrilled to find the buttons are touch, and not raised buttons you have to depress. The sensor is spot on with outdoor temp on weather channel, and atomic time sync is exact as well. The only tricky thing in setting up is I thought time zone would set with atomic time, but it doesn’t. You have to act like you’re going to manually set the time, and select the time zone. Then do the atomic sync and it will display time in your time zone.

Love, love, love it. And trust me I checked out every other option out there! I think I’m a pretty light sleeper and sensitive to light, but the projecter light and backlight in clock are not too bright for me. Only thing I think they could add would be to allow projector to rotate 360, but the 180 works just fine for me.

  13. comment  Holland Says:

I had a previous model of this clock that I loved but was broken in moving. This has a lot more features including the hygrometer and weather forecasting as well as colored display. Love everything except it is not as easy to turn the projection to get it where you want it on the ceiling and it is REALLY bright. It has a blue Laser display that is too bright to leave on unlike the common red. It does have touch screen and you can touch it to turn it on briefly and then have it shut off but liked the ability to just have it on all the time better.

  14. comment  Kennick Says:

Had it sent up and projecting in less then 5 minutes. Some complained that it was too bright for a bedroom at night but my wife and I would disagree… gives a nice warm Blue glow to the whole room. If you can sleep with a night light on then this won’t bother you… if you absolutely need a “Black” room at night then this product is not for you!

  15. comment  Diaz Says:

I owned the previous model of this Weather/Projection/Clock. One of the things I liked most about the previous Model (it died after a little over 4 years of constant use), was the ability to project it at a 90 degree angle forward. I had a piece of black cloth hanging down at the right spot toward the foot of the bed, so the time and outside temperature were projected in large digits toward the upper end of my canopy bed. That way I could see without my glasses on. This Model does not allow the projection bar to move past about 45-50 degrees. I have to look almost straight up, and cannot see without my glasses, which defeats the purpose of being able to see at night. I do not find the lights on the clock too bright, as some do. Other than my projection problem the new replacement works fine. But not being able to project in front of me, instead of straight up, means I will not automatically replace it next time.

  16. comment  Ezelle Says:

I had the consumer version of this which looks about the same but had more plastic parts. Before using it, make sure your chain is tight. You still have to push the chain with one finger to keep it straight against the force of the file and you still have to adjust the filing guide manually to the correct height which requires some judgement. You still need a flat file and depth gauge for lowering the rakers. It works as designed but the operation isn’t complete or automatic. If you get the height correct and keep the chain straight with your finger, you will have a sharp chain.
