Essential Roadmap On Husqvarna Chainsaw Throttle

husqvarna-chainsaw-parts Essential roadmap on Husqvarna Chainsaw Throttle

I use this in my NH home on trees which I clear for expanding my daylily farm. I looked through the many options and bought this due to the reviews and the reputation of the company. But beware. It took seven hours of trying and five days to get it started the first time. I even called the manufacturer’s hot line which was helpful but they said to me that this was a common problem.First a suggestion. Follow the directions but beware the flooding. Follow each step but you may have to do what I was told to do several times.Remove the cowling and remove the spark plug and turn the engine over to expel the excess fuel. Then clean the plug and let it dry. It may take time since the fuel mix with oil does not evaporate quickly, the oil is a surfactant and stays on the plug. Let the engine cool down then replace the plug, and start all over again. It took three times to get it to finally turn over. It finally turned over.It cuts well and seems to start well after the first almost impossible

Over the past ten years, my chainsaw demands have grown exponentially, and it was only a matter of time before I left Poulan and Echo behind, and graduated to Husqvarna. It’s a tricky saw to start sometimes, but that’s only because there is a lot more at play here, and once I got the hang of it, my Husk became a thing of beauty. Wide swinging arcs pass right through the torso as though it weren’t even there, and the spray of exit fluids form neat parabolas that photograph wonderfully in high-speed video. This is a must for every chainsaw enthusiast.

This saw cuts like a hot knife through butter. Best starting saw ever too. Was looking for a Stihl initially, but I don’t have a dealer nearby. Why don’t they sell on line? They’re probably stuck back in the 50’s. Their loss, my gain. Glad I got the Husky.

I am what I would consider a novice chainsaw user who has previously owned an entry model Homelite 33 cc chainsaw.
Having moved to a fully wooded acre property (3 years ago) I was beginning the search for a more powerful chainsaw-that is until a 30 to 40 foot oak tree fell on my house.
At that point I put any more internet research behind me and rushed down to my local power equipment shop (we still have those in Pa.) and was faced with a somewhat limited choice of Husky Chainsaws.
The 18 inch 450 anniversary model was in my price range (379 $ plus tax) as well as a modest trade in for my Homelite.
At 50.2 cc and 3.2 horses It seemed like it could help me clear the oak tree which was 34″ at the trunk – not a tiny tree.

I brought the orange monster home and within a minute I was in my chainsaw garb and had the Husky up and running.
I had previously removed all the small branches with a pruner so now I was ready to rock.

All was going smoothly until (with my somewhat limited technique) I had the saw stuck in a log-more than once. When I finally managed to free the bar from the tree, I had mangled the chain enough to where even after 45 minutes I couldn`t fit it back on.
So back to the shop the next day where the mechanic managed to straighten the chain out.

Back home and sawing again I am noticing that the wood is getting a blackish color (burnt) and wood becoming harder to cut telling me that either the chain was dull already or lack of chain oil.

Back to the shop again where mechanic tells me the chain is dull – I get a new one, come back home and finally got to see what this machine can do !
With a sharp, well oiled chain, this Husky 450 cuts like a pro.
It is slightly temperamental and will refuse to spin if a wood burr gets lodged in the chain etc. I suspect my beginners technique at sawing could be to blame.

The bottom line is that it did the job and I didn`t have to hire a tree company to bail me out. I am looking forward to using the saw for fireplace wood as well as making my shaded property a bit sunnier.

So I could recommend this Husky 450 Anniversary model to other users. At approx 11 pounds it is fairly light, starts up reasonably fast and didn`t break the bank…

I bought this saw for hurricane Ike cleanup and it runs well. Starts easily and handles nicely. However, like another reviewer, the chain jumped the bar. When I took it apart the brake was locked and I could not budge it. I took it further apart, and to loosen the brake, I had to take out the spring. This proved impossible to replace and in the process, it shot across my garage to be lost forever. Parts are not available; I guess since this is a new model. Getting “authorized” chainsaw work done in Houston right now? Yeah, right. Get in line with everyone else doing storm cleanup.

I had heard a lot of good things about Huskvarna’s reputation, and now I can see why. This product is spectacular!

My biggest gripe about most consumer chainsaws is that they are often difficult to start, either initially or when they are warm, so that by the time it starts, your arms are already sore from pulling the cord over and over again and you’re exhausted.

This saw comes with a laminated instruction card. Attach it to the case handle and always refer to it to refresh your memory. If you follow the startup instructions, it starts on the second or third pull, every time. And when warm, up to 30 mins of being off, you can usually just leave the choke off and it will start on the first or second pull. So sweet! Why they don’t all do this, I don’t know.

Reliable startup is the main reason I bought this saw, after being frustrated with my previous Stihl and Craftsman saws that would often refuse to start or constantly needed to be taken apart.

And in case you forgot to stabilize the fuel and left gas in it for several months, the 345 doesn’t mind. It still starts up right away. Wow.

The saw also cuts awesome. It’s built to reduce vibration, and it cuts hard woods like a breeze.

Maintenance is very easy. Remove the chain guard and clean the guard in the kitchen sink. Then use a little air spray can to clear off the gunk around the chain drive. Clean the saw after each use and I’m sure it will last for years.

I don’t know what these other reviewers problem is with the chain brake. I haven’t needed to remove the chain brake cover nor fuss with the spring. And I’ve never had the chain jump off, and that’s even when it got pinched.

There’s only one negative — make sure you remove any extra chain oil from the saw after each use, because it will tend to keep lubricating the chain, and 6 months later you’ll find an oily mess in the case. But just make that part of your post-sawing maintenance, unless you know for sure you’re going to be using it again very soon. (I didn’t have any problem leaving the lubricated oil in the saw when the saw sat on the shelf for a copule of months… but after it sat unused for 6 months, I found this to be an issue. But I’m chalking that up to common sense maintenance.)

I’ve had mine for about a year-1/2 now, and I LOVE it. I almost look forward to trees falling down in storms now! LOL, but it’s true. This saw is an absolute joy. Worth every extra dollar.

  6. comment  Fuglie Says:

I was very excited to buy this saw but quickly became aware that I had put too much faith in my prior expereince with Husqvarna saws and their general reputation. This new “tool less” acess to the bar and chain makes for a loose bar because there is only one bar nut (the plastic thing with a spring loaded handle). There is another bar bolt but it is just hidden under the cover.
The other problem with this saw is that, unlike my 3120 Husqvana, the brake handle is part of the saw body and not the chain cover and the brake assembly(with the springs and gears) is pat of the cover. Therefore, it is easy to accidentally open the cover with the brake on, thereby bringing the saw to an unworkable state. I have owned this saw for less than a week and will have taken it in for repairs TWICE.
Furthermore, I have discovered that the reason that I was being led to open the chain cover (my chain was falling off/getting REALLY loose) was due to the fact that the chain wasn’t being oiled at ALL.

Overall, I was hoping for a high quality limbing saw but have found that I got a high priced low quality out-of-commission saw.

Chainsaw defective on receipt. No easy repair. Vendor non-responsive. Amazon’s A-Z guarantee saved me.

We heat all winter our 1900 sq ft home with our wood burning stove. I finally have a chain saw that gets the job done. I love it!

  9. comment  Lozano Says:

I have had this chain saw for 3 years with zero defects. The first year I took down eight 100+ foot tall long leaf pine trees on my property with no issues. Second and third year I used it for cutting fireplace wood. Still no issues. From the factory it is set up slightly lean but I have had no issues with over heating thus far. Would buy again from Husqvarna.

The Rancher 455 is a powerful chainsaw that starts and runs very well. I have owned 3 cheap chain saws before buying this one and consider it a professional grade saw. Keeping the blade sharp is a must. I purchased a cordless dremmel tool with a bit that fits the chain to allow for a quick tune-up to keep the chain teeth sharp. I have found that if you get a 18″ bar and chain the saw works even better. If you’re looking for a powerful saw, the Husqvarna 455 fits the bill!

  11. comment  Lefebvre Says:

1st use I didn’t even get through an entire tank of gas before the CHAIN bound up on the blade. Removed chain Cover & Chain, cleaned everything up, Oiled, adjusted chain Tension, then took it out for another run the Next Day at cutting up deadfall Trees in the Woods next to our property for firewood. Didn’t cut any tree thicker than a telephone pole, did o.k. The following morning went to remove the chain Cover, but wouldn’t come off – even with both nuts completely removed! Had to pry different ways around the cover to get the clutch BRAKE (metal band) that’s attached to chain cover to Pop off! After cleaning/oiling chain, attempted every which way to adjust & tighten the chain Cover, but clutch Brake would absolutely NOT go back over the clutch! After wasteing like 1 1/2 Hours fiddling with the thing, I decided LIFE IS TOO SHORT to babysit a $400 Chainsaw every single time I want to use it! I returned the piece of junk 6 Days after buying it! ALSO, AFTER LESS THAN (2) TANKS OF GAS, THE CHAIN WAS STARTING TO DULL (CREATING SAWDUST INSTEAD OF FLYING CHUNKS OF WOOD, SLOWER CUTTING, REQUIRING MORE EFFORT).

  12. comment  Delgadillo Says:

I liked this saw great until it locked up and I couldn’t move the chain. Thinking a piece of wood was stuck I took off the clutch cover never to get it back on again. I used this saw probably 10 hours and now it is useless.
Very bad design, I would not recommend this saw at 1/2 the price.

  13. comment  Gawley Says:

I would give the saw an overall B- rating. The positve: It starts fairly easily if starting steps followed properly — read them, follow them. It is light enough for the average home user. The engine seems pretty solid and I cut 1 cord of wood with the saw (for cutting wood, this saw is too small, but did actually do the task). The negative: the plastic toolless blade adjuster works ok, but seems weak and will break any minute. It worked sorta ok for me, but not great. The oiler didn’t work so good after a few hours of use and should be cleaned often.

Overall the saw would be good for a home user that needs to cut 4 inch limbs and the occasional 6-10 tree. Follow instructions for starting and keep the chain well oiled, even if the oiler gets gunked up.

  14. comment  Hansen Says:

This thing eats wood. I didn’t have any of the start up problems lots of other people have, one thing though is youve really got to watch the oil reservoir- it might be a little undersized and empties quickly but no big deal just refill.
